Remote Correlating noise loggers for automatic leak location

The Enigma3m remote correlating noise loggers utilise 3G / GPRS communications to provide remote location of leaks in water distribution networks. Enigma3m is deployed in underground chambers and requires no costly above ground technology.

Rapid leak location

The Enigma3m correlating loggers transmit daily leak noise data via the 3G or GPRS communication networks. This data is sent to a server. The data provides leak alarms and also enables the user an opportunity to listen to the noise thus helping to confirm it is leak noise. Furthermore, correlation can be performed from many loggers to accurately locate leak positions. To enable accurate correlations a daily logger time synchronisation is carried out.

Leak location results

PrimeWeb provides a database and online viewing facility for network flow, pressure and leak alarms from XiLog+ data loggers, Phocus3/3m noise loggers and Enigma3m /3hyQ correlating noise loggers. It is accessible on any device with internet access. Logger positions can be shown on Google Maps* and coded to show leak alarms. Historical data is also available. Indication of leak positions on Google Maps* together with ‘street view’ visualisation of the leak position aids management for leakage teams.

Alkalinity Analyzers – CA900

The CA900 Series Analyzers are a family of on-line sequential sampling analyzers that use various automated analytical technologies to perform an analysis. When configured for alkalinity measurements, titration technology is used for the most cost effective, ease of use and low maintenance method. The CA900 alkalinity Analyzers are easy to start up and use, simply connect the sample, waste and reagent lines and then power up the factory calibrated analyzer. Wall mounting hardware is standard but an optional benchtop stand with reagent holder is also available. Accessing information or customizing an analysis routine are easily accomplished with the simple, user friendly menu structure and touch screen interface. The analyzer can be “web enabled” for remote monitoring and interfacting with personal handheld devices and computers. Boiler Blowdown Control System – Model 61

The Model 61 Automatic Boiler Blowdown Control System from ECD provides a reliable solution for the continuous control of the surface blowdown rate for commercial and industrial boilers. The Model 61 Boiler Blowdown Control System is a rack-mount, plug-and-play system, which is easy to set-up, simple to operate and provides cost-savings over manual blowdown.  The modular design of the BBS includes a 316 stainless steel sediment trap and sample cooler, temperature gauge, sample control valve and safety relief valve. The Model 61 sample cooler reduces water temperature prior to sample measurement. By cooling the sample, the accuracy and reliability of the conductivity (TDS) measurement is improved. The conductivity measurement is made with the Model C22 controller  and the ECD Model CS10 conductivity sensor or the Model T80 Universal transmitter with the  S80 conductivity sensor. The Model C22 is a line powered instrument, 110/220 VAC or 24 VDC, with PID control functions, logic functions and timers and is supplied with one 4-20 mA output and two alarm relays in it’s standard configuration, up to (3) 4-20 mA outputs and (4) relays are optionally available. The Model T80 transmitter is supplied with (1) 4-20 mA output, MODBUS RTU and (3) relays, HART 7 is optionally available. The Model 61 Boiler Blowdown Control System is a rack mounted modular design that includes: a 316 SS sediment trap, 316 SS sample cooler, temperature gauge, sample control valve and safety relief valve, all tubing and fittings are 316 SS. All system components, except the jacket of the  sample cooler system, can be supplied in carbon steel. The Model 61 is optionally available in a NEMA 4 enclosure.

Cation Conductivity – CE800

The CE800 Series Analyzers are a family of on-line Cation Conductivity Analyzers. Cation Conductivity is also known as Acid Conductivity and Conductivity After Cation Exchange and is the measure of electrolytic conductivity of a liquid sample after that liquid sample has passed through an ion exchange resin column containing cation resin. The conductivity of makeup water, feedwater and condensate after passing through a colum of strongly acid cation exchanger resin is an important chemical measurment used in steam generating power plants. The CE800 Cation Conductivity Analyzers are easy to start up and use, simply connect the sample lines and then power up the factory calibrated analyzer. Enclosure with wall mounting hardware is standard. The analyzer utilized the complete capabilities of the ECD T80 Transmitters and S80 sensors for conductivity and pH if so desired. Colorimetric Analyzer – Model CA6

The Model CA-6 colorimetric analyzer is an on-line sequential sampling analyzer, a sequence of sampling, analysis and result processing is performed and repeated using colorimetric methods. The measurement is a colorimetric analysis using an LED light source and a heated colorimetric cell designed for measuring trace amounts of analyte in water. The colorimetric analyzer is assembled with two separated sections with two lockable doors. The bottom section is the LIQUIDS section. It includes all of the components involved in the flow, mixing and reaction stages of the sample and reagents (sampling pump, colorimetric reaction cell, reagents micro pumps,..). Numerous analysis configurations can be programmed, depending on accessories and of the number of micro pumps mounted in the Liquid Section. The top section is the ELECTRICAL enclosure. It includes the main power supply, the controller PCB assembly and the touch screen interface. A typical Analysis Program in the Model CA-6 Colorimetric Analyzer would have the following structure: Rinse the colorimetric reaction cell with the sample solution and take a sample, add one or more reagents, like a buffer or masking agent and then make the first measurement, the Reference measurement. The Reference measurement eliminates interfering factors such as sample color and turbidity, miscellaneous color from the reagents and refractive index variations. After the reference reading, the color producing reagent(s) are added. The sample is mixed and allowed time to complete the color forming reactions before taking the second measurement, the Reading measurement. The reference and reading values are used to calculate the concentration using the calibration factor. The reaction cell is drained and rinsed several times before starting the next measurement.

The Model 2122 Cooling Tower Control System (CTCS) from ECD is an integrated system designed to control the acid feed, blow down and inhibitor/biocide feed to a Cooling Tower. Acid feed is controlled via pH, blow down is controlled via Conductivity (TDS) and inhibitor is fed on a user selectable timed basis. Both the period and dose time are easily configured by the user.

Accurate level measurement

dBi HART Transducers signal level measurement either via 4-20mA proportional to the measured value or using the HART protocol, modulated tones on the 4-20mA (1200/2200Hz). dBi HART Transducers with Version 7 protocol offer increased accuracy due to temperature compensation. dBi HART Transducers can also be used to convert your level to volume, with their inbuilt library of typical tank shapes or using their ability to use a 16-point curve fit for non-standard shapes. The output from the unit can represent distance, level, space or volume depending on your requirements.

Pulsar's dBi HART Transducers can be programmed as stand-alone devices using a hand-held calibrator or as low-power measuring devices, using HART as the mechanism for data collection, via Pulsar's PC interface called dBi HART PC. This PC interface can found within Pulsar's PC Software Suite (free to download however a security dongle is required for operation).

Pulsar's dBi Profibus PA Transducers can be programmed either using Pulsar's PC Software or using PLC/HMI with Profibus network that:
  • supplies GSD Version 3.0 with pre-defined parameter blocks in cyclic or non-cyclic modes or;
  • supplies EDDL to provide full support for acquiring/logging of echo traces, diagnostics and full maintenance I&M functions according to IEC 61804-3 standards or;
  • supplies (on request) FDT/DTM direct to HMI software to provide enhanced diagnostic/commissioning capabilities.
