Remote Correlating noise loggers for automatic leak location

The Enigma3m remote correlating noise loggers utilise 3G / GPRS communications to provide remote location of leaks in water distribution networks. Enigma3m is deployed in underground chambers and requires no costly above ground technology.

Rapid leak location

The Enigma3m correlating loggers transmit daily leak noise data via the 3G or GPRS communication networks. This data is sent to a server. The data provides leak alarms and also enables the user an opportunity to listen to the noise thus helping to confirm it is leak noise. Furthermore, correlation can be performed from many loggers to accurately locate leak positions. To enable accurate correlations a daily logger time synchronisation is carried out.

Leak location results

PrimeWeb provides a database and online viewing facility for network flow, pressure and leak alarms from XiLog+ data loggers, Phocus3/3m noise loggers and Enigma3m /3hyQ correlating noise loggers. It is accessible on any device with internet access. Logger positions can be shown on Google Maps* and coded to show leak alarms. Historical data is also available. Indication of leak positions on Google Maps* together with ‘street view’ visualisation of the leak position aids management for leakage teams.

Enigma-hyQ

Optimised for location on large diameter pipes and plastic pipes

Enigma-hyQ is a variant of the standard Enigma multi-point correlation logger that has been further optimised for leak location in large diameter pipes and over longer distances. A high sensitivity hydrophone is used (directly detects the pressure wave in the water) coupled with the application of narrow band filtering.

Multi-point Correlation

Enigma-hyQ loggers are deployed during normal working hours at multiple insertion points along the pipe. Enigma-hyQ gives an optimum performance by recording the leak sound at night – when background acoustic noise is lowest and water pressure is usually highest. Infrared and USB communications to ensure rapid operation.

Hykron

Leak listening system

Hykron is a simple to use leak listening system with very high acoustic sensitivity. It is ideal for direct leak listening at available water fittings and use as a ground microphone.

Operation

Leak noise travels through the water and can be detected by listening at valves, hydrants or any available fitting on the pipe. Hykron detects the leak noise through its high sensitivity sensor for listening via the headphones. Operation can be with extension rod or tripod for ground listening.

The Mikron3, a water leakage ground microphone system is the optimum device for water leak detection available in the market. With high sensitivity sensors and wireless sensor communications the device allows users to detect leaks easily and effectively. The Mikron 3 provides high acoustic quality leak noise listening by direct pipe contact or on the ground surface. Dynamic listening control

If the noise level changes rapidly, for example due to traffic noise, then the sound to the operator headphones is switched off. When the source of louder noise disappears, the Dynamic Listen Control automatically reconnects sound to the headphones. This control both protects the operators hearing and is an automatic ‘press-to-listen’ feature.

Minimum noise level display

Leak noise propagates from the leak to the ground surface where it can be detected using the sensitive ground microphone. For accurate leak pinpointing Mikron displays the minimum noise level. This is the background noise level, including leak noise, but without transient noises, such as traffic.

Frequency display

To further enable accurate leak pinpointing Mikron3 also displays the frequency content detected as a bar graph. This will increase as the sensor is positioned closer to the leak.

Mikron3 Junior is a compact, easy to use, water leak pinpointing system with optimised acoustic sensing technology and excellent sound quality.

Easy operation

The Processor unit displays the minimum noise level which is the background noise level without transient noises such as road traffic. The bar graph display shows the position of maximum leak noise. Adjustable filters allow for minimising background noise. The unit may be hand-held or used with a neck strap and is designed for both left and right handed use.
